All AHECs incorporate at least 1 rural clinical site as an
integral part of their training experiences to prepare for and encourage
practice in rural and medically underserved areas. Students who participate
in either the Community Match or Rural Loan Scholarship programs are
required to perform a Rural Preceptorship through an AHEC, and complete part
of their Junior Clerkship in a rural community arranged by AHEC. They also
complete at least one of their required senior rotations (Acting Internship
or Primary Care Selective) with an AHEC.
