AHEC Northeast Family Practice Clinic

SERVICES

OFFICE HOURS

The AHEC-NE Family Practice Clinic is open from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The AHEC-NE Family Practice Clinic Lab is open from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

APPOINTMENTS

Patients are seen by appointment. The appointment system is designed for your convenience and when used properly will prevent your having to wait prolonged periods of time to see your physician.
  • To make an appointment, please call the Family Practice Clinic (972-0063) during regular office hours.                                                                  
  • Appointments may also be scheduled at our business desk.
  • Let us know prior to your appointment if another family member is to be seen during your office visit so that additional time can be scheduled for you both.
  • If you are unable to keep an appointment, please call the office and cancel so that we can reschedule your appointment time.

EMERGENCY SERVICES

 

Many emergencies can be cared for within the Family Practice Center. If the emergency develops during regular office hours, please call the office for assistance and instructions regarding treatment. After clinic hours or on holidays, please call 972-0063 to contact the on-call physician through the clinic's answering service.                                                                            

MEDICAL SERVICES PROVIDED ARE:

  1. Diagnosis, treatment and patient education for common medical problems.
  2. Hospital care for medical problems.
  3. Obstetrical services.
  4. Well child care.
  5. Management of minor trauma injuries.
  6. Routine health physicals for school, camp, employment, etc.
  7. Pre-marital examinations and counseling.
  8. Family counseling.
  9. Management of problems of aging.
  10. Preventative services.
  11. Family planning.
  12. Procedures: Sigmoidoscopy, colposcopy, cryo therapy, removal of skin lesions, circumcision, Norplant, IUD, vasectomy, Ultrasound, EKG, 24-hour Holter, Infrared Coagulopathy
  13. Xray
  14. Lab
  15. Flu shots and immunizations (adult and child)
Any technical studies which cannot be performed in our clinic will be completed at either St. Bernards Medical Center, Regional Medical Center of NEA or Quest Laboratory.

Instructions for procedures:

LAB TESTS

*Patient must be fasting (nothing to eat after midnight--water only)
BMP
Lipid Profile
Glucose
Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT)

PROCEDURES

Ultrasound
Come to your ultrasound appointment with a full bladder. You may bring one person in the room with you during the ultrasound. We do not tape ultrasounds but will provide pictures whenever possible. 

Colposcopy
Take Aleve or Ibuprofen 30 minutes before procedure.  Reschedule if heavy menstrual flow. Do not douche before appointment.   Usually no biopsy is done if you are pregnant.

 

Flex-Sig
Have only clear liquids the night before the procedure and the morning of the procedure.  Take one fleets enema at bedtime the night before the procedure and a second one approximately 30 minutes prior to the procedure. This bowel prep kit will be provided by our office.

 

Cryotherapy
Reschedule if heavy menstrual flow.  Take Aleve or Ibuprofen 30 minutes before procedure.

 

Lesion removal
Clean area prior to coming for your appointment.

 

Circumcision
Arrive at least 30 minutes early for application of EMLA cream if it will be used.  Parents generally wait in another room during the procedure.

 

Incision & Drainage
Clean area prior to coming for your appointment.

 

24 Hour Holter Monitoring
Take a shower or bath prior to coming in for placement of the monitor. Your skin must be clean, free from any lotion, deodorant or perfume. You will not be able to shower or bathe until the monitor is removed 24 hours later. Patients will be given a scheduled time to come in for placement and removal of the monitor.

 

Toenail removal
Wash toe and wear loose fitting shoes, open toe sandals are best.

 

Lab
Our lab is equipped to collect specimens for a variety of tests. The following tests require patients to come in with nothing to eat or drink past midnight the night before. BMP, Lipid Panel, Glucose and Glucose Tolerance Test.
